The optimistic regulating effect of the relationship between occupational stress and burnout to special post teachers

Abstract

Objective To explore optimistic regulating effect of the relationship between occupational stress and burnout to special post teachers. Methods 469 special-post teachers in Shanxi province were investigated by the questionnaire of primary and secondary school teachers' occupational stress source,Maslach Burnout Inventory(MBI) and The Life Orientation Test(LOT-R). Results ① The level of occupational stress and burnout of special-post teaches was high. Student academic pressure of female special-post teachers was significant higher than male(t=-3.606,P<0.001). ② The occupational stress were significantly positively related to job burnout in all dimensions, they both were significantly negatively related to optimism. ③ The workload pressure was one of the important variables for job burnout(β=0.167,P =0.018). ④ Optimism had regulatory effecting between occupational stress and burnout (β=-0.089,P<0.05). Conclusions Optimism had regulatory effecting between occupational stress and burnout to special-post teachers.
