Analysis on the development status of practice(assistant) physicians in Yunnan Province

Abstract

Objective To know the changes of practice(assistant) physicians in Yunnan Province so as to provide a basis for the rational allocation of health human resources by government and health department. Methods Descriptive analysis was conducted to practice(assistant) physicians allocation. It analyzed the equity of distribution of practice(assistant) physicians according to population and area in 2016 by Gini Coefficient and Lorenz curve. Results From 2006 to 2016,the number of practice(assistant) physician increased from 55100 to 85900,average annual growth rate was 4.55%. The number of practice(assistant) physicians per 1000 population increased from 1.26 to 1.80,with average annual growth rate of 3.63%. The distribution result of practice(assistant) physicians in tertiles showed that there were eight counties(cities,districts) in the first three-digit place,covered 12.43% of total population of the province,there were 30 counties(cities,districts) in the second three-digit place,covered 34.96% of the population,there were 91 counties in the third-digit place,covered 52.62% of the population. Gini Coefficient of the number of practice(assistant) physician according to population distribution of was 0.37,and 0.52 according to geographic distribution in 2016 in Yunnan Province. Conclusions The number of practice(assistant) physicians in Yunnan Province has been increasing year by year,and the number of practice(assistant) physicians per 1000 population as well,but growing rate is ups and down somewhat. The number of practice(assistant) physicians is seriously insufficient,and the regional distribution is extremely unbalance.
